In the late nineteenth century American brewers, primarily of German and Czech descent, began to incorporate uniquely American ingredients such as corn into their recipes for the “new” pilsner style beer. This bright gold colored beer, with its crisp flavor had taken the world by storm since it was first brewed in the Czech city of Pilsen in 1842. Our Prohibition Pilsner harkens back to this time when first generation immigrants brewed beers that reminded them of home.
